This attractive colour was reintroduced
into Abyssinians in 1966 or 1967, when a
Silver Spotted British Shorthair cat,
Culverden Mercury, bred by Miss I Robson, was bred with
Lalibela Jijiga, a Usual Abyssinian queen.
All Silver Abyssinians come from this
outcross.
F1 The offspring from this was Mrs
Sidney Anne Hunt’s (Miller’s) Firefly
Dinah, a Black Silver Ticked Tabby.
F2 Dinah’s son Firefly Jasper was a Black
(Usual) Silver Abyssinian, sired by
Hillcross Tawny Pippitt, a Usual bred by
Mrs Towe. Firefly Jasper was owned by
Belinda Chapman in Dorset at the Karnak
cattery. |
